LLULLAILLACO VOLCANO (6739 m)
 

Day 1: We leave early from the city of Salta to the town of Tilcara which is situated in the “Quebrada de Humahuaca” at 2600 meters high. We spend the night in the town.
 

Day 2: We cross Salinas Grandes to get to San Antonio de los Cobres, situated at 3700 meters, in order to get used to the Puna conditions.
 

Day 3: After breakfast, we do a trekking to the “Terciopelo” hill in order to stretch the legs and breath new air. It takes 2 hours approximately.
 

Day 4: In the morning, we visit the town. In the afternoon, we go in a truck to the base camp of the Tugzle volcano.
 

Day 5: We start walking very early in the morning to get to the summit (5500 m) at midday where we enjoy the amazing sight and in the evening we come back to the camp. We spend the night at San Antonio de los Cobres.
 

Day 6: We go to Tolar Grande crossing salty lands, the “abra de Chorrillos” at 4600 m and red sand formations. We spend the night in a shelter of Tolar Grande at 3600 meters high.
 

Day 7: We make a trip to some natural attractions such us “ojo de mar, tunel del hombre muerto”. Night in the shelter.
 

Day 8: We go in a truck to the Casualidad mine which used to exploit minerals but now is abandoned. We arrive to the base camp of Llullaillaco in the evening where we spend the night.
 

Day 9: We start climbing to the camp 1 located al 5700 meters high.
 

Day 10: We continue climbing to the Llullaillaco summit arriving there at midday. We descend to the base camp in the evening.
 

Day 11: We return back to Tolar Grande. We spend the night in the shelter
 

Day 12: We return to San Antonio de los Cobres for lunch and we continue our way to Salta in a vehicle. End of expedition.
